    At Northbourne, we are committed to providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every child can thrive. Guided by our vision of Nurturing Excellence and our values of Courage, Compassion, and Community, we ensure that all pupils — including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) — receive the care, encouragement, and challenge they need to achieve their full potential.

    We believe that every child is unique, and we celebrate the strengths and talents that each one brings to our school. Inclusion is at the heart of what we do: we aim to remove barriers to learning and participation so that every child feels valued, confident, and successful.

    Our approach to SEND provision is based on:

    • Early identification of needs through regular assessment and communication with parents and carers.

    • Targeted support that meets individual needs and promotes independence.

    • Collaboration with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes.

    • High expectations for all pupils, fostering courage in learning, compassion for others, and a strong sense of community within the classroom and beyond.

    Statutory Information

    In line with the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice (2015), Northbourne  publishes:

    • A detailed SEND Information Report, explaining how we identify, assess, and support children with SEND.

    • Our SEND Policy, which outlines our commitment to inclusion and our procedures for supporting pupils with additional needs.

    • A link to the Oxfordshire Local Offer, which provides information about services, support, and resources available for children and young people with SEND and their families across Oxfordshire.
