Northbourne CE Primary School is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
We undertake rigorous checks on all staff and volunteers who work in our school and maintain a central record documenting these. Staff involved in recruitment and selection of employees are trained in safer recruitment, and all of our staff and volunteers undertake in-house Child Protection training.
Mr. Denham, Headteacher, is the Designated Safeguarding Lead and should be the first point of contact for any concerns around safeguarding and child protection. Our Deputy Safeguarding Leads are Mrs. Allmond (Deputy Headteacher); Mrs. Parsons (SENCo and KS1 Lead); Ms. Cook (School Business Manager); Miss Tierney (Early Years Lead); Mr. Guy (LKS2 Lead); Mr. Mallam (UKS2 Lead); and Miss Hill (English Subject Lead). All are available in school, by phone on (01235) 817744, or with an email labelled for their attention to office.3852@northbourne.oxon.sch.uk. Mr. Smith is our named governor with responsibility for safeguarding.
As part of our role to safeguard pupils, please be aware that, like all schools, we have a duty to share information with other agencies where there are any concerns about the safety or well-being of a child.
Our safeguarding policies listed below are all available on the School Policies & Procedures page, or in paper form through our school office, and give more information on this important aspect of our work.
If you are concerned about a child’s welfare out of school, please speak to one of the Designated Safeguarding Leads or contact the Oxfordshire Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) on 0345 050 7666.
