Our Christian foundation

Our School Logo

Our logo has a traditional Nazarene boat at its centre. On the sail, you can see the Chi Rho, the first two letters—chi and rho (ΧΡ)—of the Greek word ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ meaning Christos (Jesus). In the sky, you can see the North Star, which sailors used to guide ships on the voyages.

Our Northbourne North Star is our vision of Nurturing Excellence which will be achieved by following our values: having the courage to take on the challenges life presents; showing compassion to those who need our help; and remember that almost anything can be achieved when a community works together.

Church links

We very much value our links with St. Peter’s Church, where we enjoy our termly church services with Rev. Hannah Reynolds. Find out more about St. Peter’s on their website.

Our RE curriculum

As a formerly Church Aided school, our governors determine the RE curriculum taught to pupils.  Our long-term plan for this is here.

Church school inspection

As a Church School, Northbourne School has an additional statutory inspection every 5 years. This inspection, known as SIAMS (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) is independent of Ofsted and evaluates the distinctiveness and effectiveness of Northbourne as a church school.  Our last SIAMS inspection took place in December 2024 and judged that we are living up to our foundation as a Church school and are enabling our pupils and adults to flourish.
